Using Folding Dog Crates for House Training

One of the first things that you will want to do when you bring a new puppy home is to house train him.  After all, no-one wants little puddles or worse all over the house!  Any type of dog kennel will make an excellent aid to house training but here we shall discuss the particular benefits of folding dog crates.

When dogs lived in the wild, before they became domesticated, they made their homes in dens.  These were small spaces with only one entrance where they could see predators coming and relax safe in the knowledge that they couldn’t be easily attacked.  Today’s dogs have replaced their dens with dog kennels and of course, just like you or I, they don’t want to make a mess of their home.  This means that your dog will do his utmost not to soil his crate.  By putting a puppy in a play pen that contains his kennel he will come to view this as his patch and will try to wait until you have taken him outside to do his business.  Your job of course is to ensure that he is taken out of this pen to go to the toilet regularly or he won’t be able to help himself but make a mess.

By using soft dog crates for this training people can be sure that the kennel can be taken wherever the puppy goes.  These crates are very light making them portable and also fold up for storing in a car or whenever it’s not required.  The final advantage is that though all plastic dog crates are easy to clean, making them ideal for house training, the nylon cover on soft dog crates can be removed and put in the washing machine.  This means that they can be washed at a very high temperature ensuring that all bacteria are killed.
