The Disadvantages Of Personal Checks

Although the advantages may seem to out weigh the disadvantages, there is a negative side to the checks either way. These disadvantages are for both the check holder and any supplier they may happen to come across. The check bearer may have fewer disadvantages to contend with as opposed to the supplier and one of them is the inability to access their money if and when needed. This happens when the check holder needs the money out side banking hours. In some small rural town where the town’s folk know each others family trees, the cash can be accessed more easily than the big bureaucratic metropolis.

Aside from this, there may be charges that the client needs to pay the bank on a monthly or yearly basis in order to be in a position to maintain the account. This may not be a huge sum but no matter how small it is, it does eat into the savings in the account. For the suppliers in the market, the issues to deal with are much harder. The supplier is not in a position to judge whether the client’s check will clear or not be it an electronic check or not.

Personal checks can be quite tricky to deal with and it takes a shrewd business person to know when to accept one and when to reject one from a potential client. All these should be taken into consideration by the seller and the client that is looking into taking on the personal checks as a means of payment. In case of an emergency, the personal check may be more of a liability as opposed to an advantage. In such cases where there is no bank in sight yet the money is needed to cater for one need or the other, the personal check turns into an instant liability if compared to cash. Personal checks should be taken with ones needs and desires in mind.
