The Different Uses of Your Cricut Machine

If you’ve bought a Cricut electronic cutting machine, be it the first Cricut or one of the newer models like the Cricut Expression or the Cricut Create, you’re probably itching to start using it. Perhaps you will work on an arts and crafts or a card-making project. Maybe you intend to use your Cricut in on project to decorate your home? Any Cricut machine can be used for both and more.
Scrapbooking is without a doubt the task that the Cricut machines are used for the most. They make it easy to create custom phrases for pages in scrapbooks and there are a limitless supply of fonts available from the many cartridges. In fact, each of the Cricut machines comes with a single cartridge that includes a complete font. Scrapbookers will also appreciate the array of borders and pictures included on the Cricut cartridges. Once you know how to get the best out of your machine your scrapboking pages will look great!
If you are a card-crafter you’ll also enjoy the possibilities presented by Cricut machines. If this is something you’ve never done before, then why not give it a go. Now you have the machine you might as well explore all of it’s potential uses. Creating greeting cards can be just as creative and fun as scrapbooking but will give you a personalized product to share with your friends and family once you are done. If you are already a scrapbooker or paper crafter you will already have the necessary skills.
The Cricut machine also makes it easy to create signs that look professionally done. Letter cartridges provide you with a variety of fonts and you can use almost any material, including vinyl, to create letters to mount onto whatever surface you wish. Happy birthday signs are easy to make, or signs to advertise a garage sale. How about creating letters and signs for your children’s bedroom doors?
And speaking of birthdays, why not get to work using your Cricut to create decorations for the next childrens birthday party? You can create custom invitations, goodie bags, and even party hats using the designs on your favorite Cricut cartridge. Children love to get involved with the decorating process and this way they can help to decide on the theme, and even help you to make the decorations.
In terms of general home decorating, the Cricut can be just as useful, although you may have to think a little harder about how to put it to good use. One good idea is to use your Cricut to design stencils for wall decorations. Furniture can be stenciled too, if you know what you are doing. Just use the Cricut to create the stencil and use standard wall paint to take care of the rest. Of course I’m not suggesting that you go stencil crazy and make your walls look like scrapbook pages but a well placed stencil design can look good anywhere if coordinated with the rest of the room design.
So you’ve brought your new Cricut machine home and you’ve just figured out how it works. You even bought a few accessories, like the Provocraft Jukebox, and have set it up. Hopefully you will now have some ideas of what you are going to do with it. The only thing left is to get to work and begin to enjoy crafting with your new toy. The possibilities are endless with a Cricut machine, often the only problems are knowing where to start and, sometimes, where to stop.
