For printing needs while traveling or working in a non-stationary environment, portable printers for laptops are an excellent solution. A laptop is desirable for those who must travel or work away from the office or home. Those who work in many locations, must stay in hotels or travel by air need a printing solution that is portable, yet gets the job done effectively.
Laptops are typically very movable and utilized most often for workers and travelers with a variety of computing needs. However, the typical desk jet or office jet printer cannot be moved from one location to another. There are many different models and styles available to meet mobile printing needs. Some can be slipped into the laptop bag, while others are a bit thicker and may need their own bag for transporting.
There are several models by Canon that will print photo quality so presentations can still have sharp graphics. Hewlett Packard makes a combination printer and scanner that is lightweight and folds for easy packing. Pixma makes a very thin photo printer and an even more compact model is available from Pentax. This model prints in black only, so color is sacrificed for extreme portability. This model fits it a purse or coat pocket, so it does not need to be placed in a carry-on bag for air travel.
There are a couple different ways to connect such printers to laptops. The standard USB connection is available. Some models are available with blue tooth compatibility for blue tooth enabled laptops, so no wires are necessary to connect. Those of a smaller size may have special paper requirements, such as thermal paper. Some small models are limited to much smaller sheets of paper for printing output. Much of the decision on which model to select depends on the type of work or use of the printer. They can range greatly in price, from around $150 to $275. When selecting portable printers for laptops, the user must consider the type of space available for transport and the specific printing needs.
