Devil May Care: James Bond Book Review

Entertainment

If you are a fan of James Bond books, then ‘Devil May Care‘ written by Sebastian Faulkes (writing as Ian Fleming) is a must read. It certainly draws heavily on previous Bonds – moreso the films than the books and some of the comparisons are a bit too close for comfort, however it’s a fun read and a page turner.  The reader is reminded of an early Connery film when reading the book and the book itself is set in the mid to late sixties.

The villain, Dr Julius Gorner is good value and has a very distinctive handicap. The villainous henchman is oriental and has very distinctive head gear (sound familiar?).  Overall it’s a good read, however, I don’t think the author particularly stretched himself when it came to creating new scenarios for Bond and Gorner’s demise also has a riong of familiarity about it.
