Choosing a Frame for your Child’s Bed

There are several interesting and original designs used for children’s bed frames. Most of the elaborate themed frames are very expensive to purchase and are designed to be used only when your child is young. The divan beds are a more practical design that will also accommodate your child into their teen years. Parents choose this style for their child’s room because you can find frames that include storage drawers in the base. This makes an inexpensive and space saving way to store clothing or toys your child has.
A princess bed is another popular style used for little girls. The basic frame design includes an overhead piece used for hanging a canopy cover on. This frame can also work for a teenage girl who enjoys frilly types of furnishings. The beds grow with your child by changing the type of bedding used on them. For young children, character themed sets are often used to create a surrounding atmosphere the child is familiar with. Storybook and cartoon characters can be replaced by animals, cars and flowers as the child matures. Most bedding sets will be part of a collection that includes matching curtains, rugs and wall decorations.
When shopping for your child’s frame you want to choose a material that will be durable. Wood is a solid and long lasting material used in constructing many styles of frames for beds. Metal is also a common material and is usually what princess style frames are constructed of. If the child the bed is intended for is still quite young, you could purchase a pair of side rails to use on the twin sized bed. These will keep your young child from falling off the bed while sleeping. Themed bed frames can look exciting and adventurous, but they are not really geared toward providing a good night’s rest for your child.
