Auto Theft: Car Models Most Often Stolen
Auto Repair and Maintenance, Insurance

When we think of the types of cars that car thieves steal most often, we think of the flashy, speedy, sports car. This is not necessarily the case these days. According to a 2008 study by the Highway Los Data Institute (HLDI) the following has been proven true. It has been reported that not only do car thieves prefer the larger SUVs and big trucks but they also steal them for the equipment carried in and on them that are usually very expensive. Building contractors and constructions workers are usually the drivers of the over sized trucks which carry extremely expensive tools in their tool beds. The locks on them do not deter car thieves, they can bust open a lock in a few seconds. Also, the SUVs have expensive audio systems, and spinning rims on their wheels that are easy for the car thieves to sell. These days, people that own durable family cars usually have them locked up in a garage or have anti-theft devices. The trucks because of their size are usually parked on the street where they can really catch the eyes of thieves.
The number one vehicle being stolen by car thieves is now the 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV, this will make General auto insurance rates increase greatly. A few of the other favorites of car thieves are the Ford-250 SuperCrew, the Cadillac Escalade, and the Dodge Charger. Regarding the least stolen vehicles, the Mercedes E Class sedan is 15 time less like to be stolen than the Cadillac Escalade ESV. A few more of the least stolen vehicle are the Buick Rainier, the Volkswagen New Bettle, and the Toyota Prius.
Another thing that plays an important part in whether or not your vehicle is stolen, is the area where your live. Make sure to get auto insurance quotes to find the lowest rates and if you live in an apartment in the city, it is less likely that you have a garage to park you car, therefore it’s parked on the street and thieves are always looking for an opportune time to steal any kind of car. So, just because your car doesn’t fall into the top most stolen cars does not mean that you can won’t be stolen someday.
