A Genuinely Cuban Hotel in Camaguey

The last time that my husband and I went on a vacation, we visited Cuba for a couple of weeks enjoying the sun and the fantastic local culture. Many people think of Cuba wrongly. Yes, it is still technically a communist country. Yes, if you are Cuban you can get in trouble for saying or doing something out of line. But, I am convinced that this will pass in the near future and that normal Cubans, who are the nicest and most gracious people in the world, will experience the freedom to do and say as they please. Anyway, on our most recent trip we decided to visit the historic old town of Camaguey in central Cuba. This beautiful old town was one of the most interesting places we have been in Cuba. Yes, the beach resorts in places like Varadero and Cayo Coco are gorgeous too, but Camaguey and the hotel in Camaguey that we stayed in were so genuinely Cuban that it was a nice change from the bustling beach resorts.
